Sanford Mid-Dakota Laboratory
Laboratory test results comprise 70 percent of the patient’s medical records and are vital to the diagnosis and treatment of illness and disease. It is estimated that 70 – 80 percent of all medical decisions are made based upon the results of laboratory tests. Even if you are seeing a physician at another facility, you do not need to travel to larger communities for your lab tests. The laboratory staff at Sanford Mid-Dakota works closely with physicians from all over the state to provide the best care for people in our communities. Sanford Mid-Dakota’s laboratory is a full service blood bank. It is also a collection site for governmental agencies and businesses that require urine drug testing.
Our laboratory is certified as a high complexity laboratory certified in 13 specialties and subspecialties by The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) through the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA).
Fasting is required for some lab tests. Please check with your provider for special requirements before you come for testing. Walk-ins for all laboratory tests from 7:30 am - 5 pm are welcome. However, to reduce wait times, we encourage you to call Central Scheduling at 605-234-7169 to make an appointment. Laboratory reports will be sent to your provider so please check with them for the results.
For those interested in a career in Medical Technology, Sanford Mid-Dakota is proud to be a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) internship site through Mitchell Technical Institute and Lake Area Technical Institute.
