Sanford Mid-Dakota Medical Center again partnered with the Sanford Health Foundation to offer $2,000 scholarships to two area students who have decided to make healthcare their career.
Erin Plenty Chief – Crow Creek High School. Erin will attend South Dakota State University and plans to become a pharmacist.
Kevin Meier – Lyman High School. Kevin plans to attend South Dakota State University and major in Athletic Training/Physical Therapy.
In addition, Sanford Mid-Dakota also awarded five $500 academic scholarships to seniors from area high schools. These students are also pursuing their education in the healthcare industry. The Sanford Mid-Dakota Medical Center Scholarship Program is available to eligible students of the Chamberlain, Kimball, Lyman County, Fort Thompson, Lower Brule and Crow Creek School systems for those students who are seeking a career in the healthcare industry. Applicants must be a member of the high school graduating senior class of the above school systems for the year in which they are applying. They must be preparing for education in the healthcare industry, and must graduate from high school with a grade average of a “C”.
The 2010 Sanford Mid-Dakota Medical Center Scholarship recipients are:
Chevy Fischer – Chamberlain High School. Chevy plans to major in Athletic Training at Mt. Marty College in Yankton .
Sammi Jo Gourneau-Janis – Lower Brule High School. Sammi plans to attend South Dakota State University and become a nurse.
Erin Plenty Chief – Crow Creek High School. Erin will attend South Dakota State University and plans to become a pharmacist.
Reed Reuman – Lyman High School. Reed plans to attend Black Hills State University and major in Pre-Pharmacy.
Katie Talbott – Kimball High School. Katie would like to be a Physician Assistant or Certified Nurse Practitioner and plans to take her pre-professional courses at Black Hills State University.
